![]() ![]() The Dreadnaught Mk II was designed to improve upon the old Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser, which had become outdated, with the original design being around 100 years old. ![]() ![]() The Dreadnaught Mk II was first theorised by Admiral David Alexander to fill a gap in his fleet formations, as well as to fill out his fleets with non-Imperial vessels. The Dreadnaught Mk II was far more heavily armed than it predecessor, sporting 25 double barrelled Heavy Turbolasers, 50 Medium Turbolasers, 15 Ion Cannons, 45 Quad Heavy Laser Cannons for point defence and 8 Proton Torpedo launchers, each with a magazine of 5 Proton Torpedoes. ![]() The shielding systems on the Dreadnaught Mk II were highly advanced, taking cues from the Mon Calamari and installing many shield generators, resulting in highly regenerative shields that were tough to penetrate. The Dreadnaught Mk II was extremely heavily armoured, with a Durasteel/Tungsten alloy covering the major sections of the ship, including the weapons blisters and around the bridge. ![]()
